Blessing and Challenge

by Derek

I really enjoyed the little meeting we had before the Operation Gratitude ceremony when we were introducing each other to everyone and how New Life K9s helped us, it made me feel a part of something that’s actually real and meaningful. When I shared, I honestly meant how I felt about the program. I shared about how I made so many poor choices after poor choice and so on. Involving myself into this program has been a huge blessing and challenge. Lately, I’ve been overwhelmed with personal things but with the help with Jimmy and the other dogs, they’ve been giving me that extra boost of confidence and comfort to get through the day. The challenge has been awesome. I know this program was going to test me in areas that I haven’t challenged myself in for a long time. But given this opportunity to grow mentally and learn how to become a responsible, selfless, and humble person has been all worth it. I know what I’m capable of and I know I have the potential to become even better. These dogs helped see that and I’m truly grateful for the program, but most importantly I’m truly grateful for each of the dogs.
