About Cooper
My name is Cooper. At CMC I am known as King Coopa. My older siblings are Rusty and Josie, who have graduated as Service Dogs; being Service Dogs runs in my blood. Mad Max, the defender of the universe, is my godfather and my entrusted guardian is a U.S. Army Veteran. I will master the ways of Bond Based Choice teaching. All Hail King Coopa! From Cooper's Handlers
"Cooper is more than my friend, he is my family. He reminds me that I am loved and needed when the days are rough. He reminds me that I'm blessed when the days are great. He reminds me that I am a good man, deserving of his love." -Raymond

Hey guys, I am the Top Dog now. I've received a promotion! I now get to help and contribute to the healing and saving of more lives. I'm going to help kick-off our breeding program and supply New Life K9s with Cooper Troopers. In the mean time, I've been helping to teach our new handlers how to handle dogs and I'm teaching our puppies how to do some skills and occasionally teach them some manners. I'm looking forward to getting to work. I'm going to miss the guys at CMC. They are all proud of me and eager to work with one of my Troopers. Also, I successfully navigated Boot Camp to serve as a Warrior Support Dog for my veteran Glenn. There have been so many changes! I'm so excited. May 2020 Update
-
Hello everyone, I'm working on my transition to my new promotion! In the meantime, I've been putting our new dog handlers through my own personal boot camp. I love to sleep in. Nosework, being chased, playing, and eating my rawhide are my favorite things. I also love running at the beach and walking with horses.
March 2020 Update
-
As the Big Dog over here, I've been helping my little buddies Leon and Dante socialize a little better. I'm improving my manners. I've also been maturing and polishing up. I love to play with the puppies and play with raw hides. I like to walk with the We-Leash and all the weird attachments my handler puts on it.
February 2020 Update

Cooper here! This month I have been working on impulse control. Two of our girls are in heat and the others are driving me loco! All these girls make it hards to focus. I'll keep you updated!
January 2020 Update

Hey everybody! I've been selected to be a stud dog for our breeding program. I'm eager to get to work to provide our heroes Cooper's Troopers. I've been working on Magnificent Manners and the basic skills stuff. I have a new nickname, it's "Lover Boy" because I love all the girls here. I like to nap, be massaged and scratched. I love Kongs and food sharing. I like that my handler lets me sleep in. I love to tussle with Angel and my sister Pauline. I love our new puppies and saying hi to them and their toys. I've been good, unless you ask the girls, and I can't wait to see what Santa brings me. Happy Holidays everyone!
December 2019 Update

I spent the whole month preparing for the graduation. After that, the new guys spent a whole week practicing with me in preparation of their working interviews. I am enjoying some Tim off, relax my mind and work on my magnificent manners. Check out these new super tall friends of mine!
November 2019 Update

Hi! I'm working on a little bit of everything. I just need to polish off some of the rough ends. Lately I've been trying to improve my impulse control and overly positive associations with cats. I like to play keep away, nap with my handlers, and have him scratch my belly. I love to play with Angel and Buddy. I love ALL the treats. I went to the Genius Bar with my puppy parent. That was a great way to practice patience, that's for sure!
October 2019 Update
-
Hello everyone! This month I've been working on retrieval, turning on the light switch, "get help," loose leash walking, and of course the fun stuff like colors and confidence building. As you can see, it's been jam packed! I love to play keep away with the other dogs and have them chase me. I love ALL the treats! I love to tug and play fetch with my rawhides. After playing I love to lay on my back and have my handler scratch my belly. I always love to nap after a yummy KONG treat.
September 2019 Update

Hey everybody, I’m a year old now! I had an awesome birthday party at Top Dog Coffee Bar with my friends. A new puppy named Buddy has been assigned to my team and he is a spunky kid with lots of potential. I’ve been showing him the ropes and teaching him the basics. At my weekend home, I’m learning to live with cats. So far so good, but it can be tempting to chase them. I love to play with my big bro Robbie, show-off for the new puppies, take naps, go on walks, and of course, get extra treats. Talk to you next month!
June 2019 Update

Hello guys, it’s Cooper here! This month I’ve been working a bunch of skills that will help prepare me for becoming a service dog. Things like “Alert” and “Go get help” are really important, because I need to be ready to help my veteran or first responder whenever they need me. I’ve also been working on rapid recall, shapes and colors, pulling off socks, retrieving, freeze, open doors, like me, and lights. It’s a lot of things to remember, but I’ve been working hard to master them as soon as I can. When I’m not working, I love to play around with the puppies. I definitely miss hanging out with Annie and Curtis, but all the new guys are really fun too! Speaking of things I love, I think I need to go grab that chew toy, maybe I can even get someone to chase me in the process! Catch up with you later!
April 2019 Update
-
Hey guys! This month I’ve been locking in “Get help” and “Alert”. I also know how to “paw” now, which is fun! Also, my “rapid recall” is getting to be pretty quick! I have been working on problem solving as well, which is challenging is the good sort of way. I can turn lights on and off too! Since there has been less rain recently, I got to run around outside more! I like to play with the older dogs and chase my handler around (he gives the best tummy rubs when I catch him). I used to be slower than most of the other dogs, but with all my practice running, I’ve gotten to be really fast. I can’t wait to see what I get to do next month; I’ll make sure to take good notes so I can tell you all about it!
March 2019 Update
-
Hello Everyone! February has been a great month for training. I really enjoy the “Like Me”
exercises that I do with my trainer. I was also able to jump up on the ping pong table and
training table in a single bound. I can now pull off socks and I look forward to more
retrieval and rapid recall training. I still don’t like baths but I’m getting better at taking them. I
do like running around like crazy afterward though. I’m also proud to report that at only 9
months old I am the Tugging Champ! Have a great month and check back with me in March
to see how I’ve progressed.February 2019 Update

Super Cooper is here! The new year is off to a strong start. I am tugging open doors and identifying objects is a breeze. My patience at doors has improved and my freeze is getting better too! Like Angel, I've been working on my rapid recall, and it's awesome! I have lots of fun working on it and getting to show off my skills. Speaking of skills, I can carry my toy bag to the park and back now. Impressive, right? When I'm not working hard, I have epic wrestling battles in the yard with my buddies Annie and Donnie. That's all for now, see you next month!
January 2019 Update

Hi guys, I’m Cooper! I'm pretty big, some would even say I’m like a tank! This month I've been working on practicing games like “Like Me” and a bunch of other things! I get so excited when I get to turn on light switches and help take off shirts. I’m also learning how to tug open doors, but pushing them open is so much more fun. My nose work is pretty great, I really love finding treats. Did you know I even have cookies named after me? I also like playing with my sister Paulina and friends Angel and Dazzle. I also love to play ball. I like a lot of things, but there’s one thing I don’t like - baths. They are no fun. Hopefully I can avoid them for now, but I'll let you guys know how that goes next month. Bye!
November 2018 Update

This month I am 18 weeks, and have been learning a lot. For this month I have been working hard on my retrieving. I am getting good at tugging doors open, and continuing to learn my colors. As always I love playing with my squeaky toy, eating is my favorite activity, and in my free time I like playing with my sister Pauline and Angel. Talk to you next month!
SEPTEMBER 2018 UPDATE

I been learning how to identify items and inferential learning. I am also learning my colors, red and blue. I very confident, I can even walk across a plank. I have been going to chow, this will help me learn how to behave when I am out at a restaurant. This month I am learning to when it's time to relax and be patient, and when it's time to play hard, I love playing! I recently went to Top Dog Coffee Bar to meet some new people and thank them for all the support they are giving me, they are awesome!
