About Darla
Hello everyone, my name is Darla. My sister, Miss T (my littermate) and I have come from Arizona to CMC-West NLK9s service dog school because it's the best in California. A lot of family members are also attending this school. Here at this school, my educators give me tons of love, attention, and choices.
From Darla's Handlers
"Darla has continued to impact my life as Gregor II has in a tremendous way. Both have continually allowed me to put all of my rehabilitation efforts into practice. They teach me the value of a meaningful and healthy relationship and to focus on the love between." -Osa

May 2020 Update
Hi there, it's me, Darla. I'm not liking this "COVID-19" too much because it's getting hot out and I miss swimming at the beaches and lakes. I get to play in the little baby water pool here at NLK9s school, but it's just not the same. Hang in there everybody--this will be over soon and we will all get to go out more!

April 2020 Update
Darla barking your way! Big news... I turned one year old. I had so much fun on my birthday, playing with my friends and family members. I understand that COVID-19 has closed all the schools, but here at NLK9s, it's still open as usual. I'm loving it! I'm learning so much. I pull doors open and shut them and I also have learned to alert somebody or "get help" when I need them. Thanks for checking in. I hope you all stay safe!

March 2020 Update
Darla here! I took a road trip with my Auntie Rosa and ended up at the vet. I have been taking it "nice-n-ez" ever since! Spring break came early for me. Wow! No school! :) Since the road trip, the days have been full of relaxation, KONG treats, alone time, and tons of sniffy walks. Vacations are the best!

February 2020 Update
Happy Valentine's Day. This month has been awesome. My puppy parents took me to all sorts of places; beaches, lakes, and parks where I got to explore, swim, and run around. At the park I watched people ride around on their bikes. I also worked, putting on my working badge (vest) to enter stores, and the bank with my mommy (puppy parent.)
School has also been great. I'm building more confidence running through boxes barriers, boards that were unstable, and planks. I also listen to strange sounds with my educators and watched them ride a skateboard.
My educators are also teaching me to think for myself. They asked me questions and challenged me in my abilities to help them in their needs, such as opening and closing doors, bracing them from a seated position, and alerting them to something. I think I got some of the concepts. I am able to ID objects (items)and return them to another room. Open and close the door when they asked me, I now just have to learn to anticipate to do it without them asking.
I love playing balls with my handlers, but they have cut that off and instead playing tug with me. Which is cooler because I get to show them how strong I am. And I am way stronger than them 'cause I WIN.
I'm learning and enjoying my schooling. My handlers (educators) are so loving, kind, sweet, and patient with me. Thank you for checking with me. I'll see you all later. happy Valentine's Day everyone.

Happy New Year everyone! My handlers keep calling me Little Lady now instead of Little Baby. Also, I noticed that all the boy dogs keep crying and whining, wanting to play with me. But I've been keeping away and taking it easy. It feels like a long winter vacation! There will be more to update on next month!

December 2019 Update
It has been an awesome month. Two of my cousins just enrolled to CMC-West NLK9s service doggy school. Both of them are much darker than the rest of us, but they're the most cutiest and adorable. I've been watching "gentle" with them, but soon when they're larger we're definitely going to rough them up. Recently in class my handler had me concentrate on walking nicely and ick because I love to pick up stuff off the ground. I think I'm doing better at it, but it's so difficult not to pull when I'm excited, and everything looks so great on the ground. My favorite all time toy is my Jolly Ball Teaser. I love that Jolly Ball, but I can never get the ball that's inside the larger ball. Either way I'll chase it and bring it back to my companion every time. My other favorite is jumping into bed with my companion at 3 am in the morning to cuddle with him because he can't sleep well. I let him hold me and comfort and keep him warm... Thank you for following my development. Merry X-mas and Happy New Year! See all of ya'll in 2020!

I got to watch my Uncle Quinn graduate. I had an awesome time meeting people who support my development to become a service dog at the ceremony. Can't wait to meet/ see them again in the spring for Gregor, Cole, and Dazzle's graduation ceremony. I have been having so much fun and enjoying myself here at doggy school. This month I learned how to retrieve an item from another room and push doors open/ closed. My favorite thing right now is EATING!

Hello, my name is Darla. This is my first update I get to share! I had tons of fun this month. Most of us had kennel cough but everyone got over it, and we played like crazy. But over the weekend I only had my human companion. That's even cooler because we have tons of fun without the puppies interrupting our quality time. He even rode a skateboard and that was awesome. I'm not scared of it anymore! At school I learned how to tug a door open and my handler Osa gets so excited and cheerful for me. I love to make him happy! I can't wait to see what else I'm going to learn. See you all next month.
