About Diesel
Hi everyone. My name is Diesel and I'm a yellow Lab. Currently I am enrolled in the NLK9's program here at CTF.
My brother Nova and I arrived here towards the end of June 2019 and we have been having fun playing and learning skills every day. Right now, my favorite thing to do is wrestle with my brother. I like playing with the bigger dogs one on one. But after being used as a speed bump a couple of times, when they started running around chasing each other, I would rather go back inside and take a nap.
I'm becoming very good at removing socks, and taking off jackets and will give my person "five" afterwards. I've realized that tugging on the tug that's attached to a door is used to open the door. I am now getting items out of the cabinet. I'm still working on shutting the doors though, (maybe I was born in a barn). I've been working on my yes and no, and my object identification. I get them right most of the time. I am getting good at bringing things back to my person instead of running off with the items. Another thing I've been working on is putting trash into a trash can. My person tips the can over so I can reach, as I'm a little on the short side right now.
We have new handlers here and I've been helping them hone their skills. I'm teaching them what it takes to keep my attention. I can get distracted. After all, I am a puppy. As a matter of fact, there goes a butterfly. O.K., where was I? Oh yes, the new guys are doing great and all of us are learning together.
Well, let's all keep up the good work, and until next time, everyone take care. Now, where's Nova?

Hi everyone it’s me the little white goat, Diesel. MAAAAAHHHH!!! ;)
I’m so excited, because any day now, I am going to see my sister Sherie who is flying in from the Czech Republic to spend the weekend with us at family visiting. It will be so awesome to have us all together once again. What’s great about this visit, is all the delicious groceries we will have to snack on. I will be gentle, but I won’t be taking it bit-by-bit. :) But on a serious note, I’ve been working really hard this month on our new exercises, like “Walk with me” and “Touch." What kind of work could be better when it’s raining hot dogs!
Just to let my fans know, that with each passing day, my confidence is growing. We have been doing some excellent confidence-building exercises that have been really helping me. Being on Team Enrichment along with Lola (props to Team Lola) has really helped me come a long way in such a short amount of time. I don’t know what the future holds right now, but of course, my goal is to become a service dog. What I can say for sure, is that in the end, I would like to make a difference in the life of a veteran or a first responder in need. Thank you so much to JJ, Alfonso, Rob, and Lola for all their help!

Hey everyone who follows me! I’ve been doing excellent with all my guys who love and care about me. This month has been a little tough because I'm having trouble going up stairs. It’s not that I haven’t before but something about them gets my nerves on edge, so I prefer not to go up scary-looking stairs for now.
My guys continue to build my confidence and I appreciate that they don’t push me too hard. I’ve learned to walk on different surfaces and even though I am not too sure about the wooden surfaces, I do muster up the courage to get on top of them. I still love playing tug and sunbathing out in the yard with my guys. They even give me treats while expressing how handsome I am and as much as they tell me, I’m beginning to believe they’re on to something. It’s because people that I meet tell me the same thing when I get close to them which makes my tail wag that much faster. :-)
I will continue to look forward to doing “Like Me” exercises with my guys so I can mimic what they are doing. They always look so funny when they want me to do something and I just stand there observing them. I get all excited which always makes my heart beat faster. Okay, that’s it for now and I will write again next month. Till then, stay safe, stay strong, and stay motivated.

Hi everyone, it’s Diesel. All my humans here say I am super smart and learn fast. Hopefully, you will be able to go online and see some of my skills! I look forward to becoming a service dog.
A few of my skills include retrieving items like wallets, keys, walking cones, and of course my leash. I can open doors and cabinets, I can brace you if you need it, I can remove your gloves, socks, and I can unzip your jacket and help you take it off. I’m a great leash walker and have good manners when it comes to not jumping on people. My biggest assets have to be the fact that I’m cute and cuddly!
My favorite things to do are eat, sleep, and play tug. I will tug with anyone; human or dog. Just give me a tug or rope and it's game on!
I also love to wrestle with my friend, Apollo.

Hi everybody! I have been working very hard and practicing putting on my harness. Dennis and I have also been working on me coming close and staying close when asked to. Another thing I've been doing this month is bringing Items to Dennis’ hand. I think that’s fun! All right, I’ll talk to everyone soon!
