Greetings everyone, I’m a Labrador Retriever and I was born November 15, 2018! Hana is my name, and in Hawaii that means service and work. I got named by two wonderful people who stand by that tradition, Jack and Karen, the founders of New Life K9s. I’m the newest member of the New Life service dog program and CMC, and the cutest dog your eyes will ever see! Some would say I'm a diva at times, but I call it liking things to be done my way. I enjoy running around outside with my friends and chewing on toys, but mostly I like learning and watching the seagulls roam around. Seeing the Dog Father is always fun. He also gave me the nickname Bubba. I like seeing him because he gives me so much love, plus he has the tastiest treats. I can't wait for all of you to watch my journey of becoming a service dog!
From Hana's Handlers
"Hana has taught me how to be patient, caring, loving, kind, and gentle. Hana has been a blessing in my life. She's my angle. I love her. :)" -David

Hi everyone it's me Hana! I just want you to know that I'm doing good. My handler, David, and I have been working on my "ick" because I love picking up food from the ground. I can't help it, I believe people leave food for me to pick up. Other than that, my teaching is coming along well for now. Have a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
November 2019 Update
Hi, it's me Hana again. This month I am working on putting away my toys in my toy box and I am learning different items. My best friend, Bobbie, and I are going to be working together. I am having a lot of fun! I love eating treats if I can do that all day, I will! Until next time!
October 2019 Update
Hi it's Hana, the beautiful one! I know it's been a while since you heard from me. I was sick from kennel cough. However, my teaching is coming along. I'm really smart. Right now I am working on putting my toys away in my toy box and working on my patience because I get overly excited. Well, that's all for now. To my fans, much love!
September 2019 Update
This is Hana barking your way! I've been working on opening and closing doors. I'm actually pretty good at it now. My retrieving is on point and I'm able to retrieve medicine bottles and my own leash, which is pretty cool. My handler David makes it easy for me to learn because he's patient and loving towards me. I love making him happy. I love playing with my best friend Leon. He's my favorite. I run around and play tag. I always get him though because he's too slow at running. Until next time...
June Update 2019
Hi everyone! It's Hana again! I have so much to tell you! I've been working a bunch on improving my skills; I can open and close doors now, and I gotta say, I'm getting pretty good. I also have been retrieving medicine bottles and my leash! While I would say that I'm a fast learner, it definitely helps to have a handler who is patient and loving. I also have been getting to play a lot with my best friend, Leon! We love to run around and play tag. I'm a fast runner though, so I usually win. Well, that's all for now. Make sure to check back in next month to hear about what I do next!
May 2019 Update
Heya everyone! It’s Hana! I’ve spent the past month growing in skills and size (I’m not such a little puppy anymore)! My teachers have been giving me so much love and doing an amazing job making sure that I learn all that I can. I can open cabinets and retrieve items and do “like me”s now! The only thing that I seem to be getting a bit stuck on is my emergency recall. I like to just dive right into things, but my teachers have been helping to manage my impulsiveness. One of my favorite activities is playing frisbee; I love to run around and try to catch it in the air! Well, until next time, many hugs and kisses from me to you.
April 2019 Update
Hi guys, it’s Hana here! I’m having a great time at CMC, and I’ve been learning some new things with my teachers! They are both so loving and caring- they’re the best! I have a new besty here now, Mr. Leon. He’s smaller than me, so I usually beat him when we play, but sometimes I let him get a few wins. I’ve been doing a bunch of work to start my journey to becoming a service dog! I have practiced identifying shapes, colors and objects and also worked on my “Like me”s, opening doors, lights, and picking up objects. It’s a lot of work, but it has been fun to learn so many new skills! I can’t wait to see what I get to do next month!
